There are a number of ancient mosques in Antakya, the oldest being the Seljuk Ulu Cami. The most interesting of the mosques is the Habib Neccar Cami. This was a Crusader church that was converted into a mosque after the fall of Antioch to the Mamluks and a minareth was added in 17 th century AD. The Muslim Saint for whom this mosque is named also has a shrine in the cave that he inhabited on the mountain that rises on the east side of Antakya; this is the ancient Mount Silpis known Turkish as Habib Neccar Mount.
